What Is WIOA Funding? Free Trade School Training Explained

What Is WIOA Funding?

WIOA stands for the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. It is a federal program that pays for job training so you can learn new skills and find better work — at no cost to you.

How Does WIOA Work?

The federal government gives money to each state. Texas distributes that funding through Texas Workforce Solutions offices across the state. When you qualify, Workforce Solutions pays for your training directly. You never see a bill.

What Does WIOA Cover?

WIOA funding can cover:

  • Tuition — The full cost of your training program
  • Books and materials — Everything you need for class
  • Certifications — Testing fees for licenses like OSHA 30

At American Training Institute, WIOA covers 100% of the cost of our electrical technician program.

Who Qualifies for WIOA?

Eligibility is determined by your local Workforce Solutions office. You may qualify if you are:

  • 18 years or older
  • A Texas resident
  • Unemployed or underemployed
  • A SNAP or TANF recipient
  • A veteran
  • Looking to change careers

How to Apply for WIOA Funding

1. Find your nearest Workforce Solutions office

2. Attend an orientation session

3. Meet with a career counselor

4. Get approved for training funding

5. Enroll at American Training Institute

The process typically takes 1-2 weeks. ATI helps you through every step.
